The attending physician will then, in consultation, perform the examination of the oral cavity and check the functions of the lingual or labial frenulum. If these are limited, we explain how this might be related to any difficulties the baby may be having with drinking and feeding. Medical advice is then given. It is possible to perform a procedure in the same session if pre-treatment has already been performed. Another appointment is also an option.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Behandlung\">Diagnosis made: the treatment<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Before treatment, the baby&#8217;s health history is carefully reviewed and discussed. Babies and young children are given numbing cream to prevent pain at the procedure site. Our practices use the super-pulsed CO\u00b2 laser. The tongue is lifted with a tongue depressor to get a good view of the surgical site. Once the procedure is complete, the baby is returned to the mother for breastfeeding, feeding, or reassurance.
